Delegates’ Rights

Under the Government’s Closing Loopholes Act 2023, the Fair Work Commission must vary all modern awards to include a delegates rights’ term by 30 June 2024.

AREEA is deeply concerned the term, as currently drafted, reaches beyond the right to represent industrial interests of eligible employees – and instead would allow delegates to engage in myriad disputes, discussions, processes and procedures between an employee and employer.

Right to Disconnect

The Right to Disconnect, effective 26 August 2024, introduces new protections for employees where they choose to ignore or not respond to communications from their employer outside of work hours.

It’s a controversial measure, and we’ll canvas the possible implications for resources and energy employers.
